Tournament Rules

Ladies Powder Puff Fishing Tournament Rules: June 12th & 13th, 2026

1. By receiving these rules, all entrants agree that they understand and will follow all rules and stipulations of the tournament.

2. Fred Rhodes Pavilion, Roberts Point, Port Aransas June 12th & 13th, 2026 (Hor d’oeuvres served)                                                                                                                              Sign Up starts at 5:00 PM, Captain’s Meeting at 7:00 PM, Calcutta to follow.

3. There will be a Guided and Non-Guided Division

Guided: If any person on the boat has held a US Coast Guard Captain’s License or has been compensated for taking someone fishing within the last 12 months. 

Non-Guided: If no one on the boat has held a US Coast Guard Captain’s License and not been compensated for taking someone fishing within the last 12 months. 

4. Target Fish:

Redfish:  20” – 28”

Spotted Seatrout:  15” – 20” 

Black Drum:  14” – 30”

Flounder:  15” – No Limit

Hardhead:  No Limit


5. Depart Safe Light.
No check in is required before fishing. Fishing starts Saturday June 13th at 6:00 AM. Contestants must be in line at Fred Rhodes Pavilion with their fish by 3:00 PM. No Exceptions. 

 

6. Teams are limited to 4 ladies, all ladies on the boat must be registered contestants and hold a valid TPWD Saltwater Fishing License. Contestants under 17 do not need a license but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 

 

7. All fish weighed in must be caught on rod & reel by a lady contestant during tournament hours. 

 

8. Ladies must hook and reel in their own fish. 

 

9. Guides may run the boat, cast, bait hooks, net fish and serve refreshments. 

 

10. All live, dead and artificial bait is allowed. 

 

11. Land/ Pier/ Beach/ Jetty/ Boat/ Wade fishing are all allowed 

 

12. Only one species of target fish can be weighed in. Exception is Spot Pot entry which must have more than 2 spots to enter. Joined spots count as 1. In the event of tie by weight, length will determine the tie break. If still tied, a coin toss will determine winner. 

 

13. Weight Master- GULF COAST WEIGHMASTER SERVICES – They are trained to check for freshness of the fish and for tampering or alterations made to the fish. Because of the sensitivity of their scales, weight can not pe protested. If a team would like to protest a length call, the fish must remain with weigh master and a $200 deposit received. 

 

14. To protect the integrity of the Ladies Powder Puff Fishing Tournament, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place contestants will be required to pass a POLYGRAPH test. 

 

15. Guided and Non-Guided Division Trophies for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place:

  • Heaviest Stringer (combined weight of 3 different target fish)
  • Individual Target Fish
  • Best Dressed Team
  • Hard Luck Story (1 Trophy)

16. Guided and Non-Guided Division – $500.00 entry fee for a team of 1-4 anglers. Optional $100 SPOT POT 

 

17. Guided ONLY – Calcutta – 1st, 2nd & 3rd place for heaviest stringer. 90% of Calcutta Money Returned to winners. 50% to Team, 50% to Purchaser. 

 

18. Non- Guided ONLY  Optional $100 entry per team, per pot for each target fish. If fish species not caught, all pot money for that species will be returned. 

 

 

 

FAILURE TO OBSERVE ALL TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE FISHING REGULATIONS WILL BE GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATIONS
